And all you want to do is quietly wrap up somewhere, sit, sip tea, and watch. Maybe something unexpected will walk by, something beautiful, something holy? The wind will scatter leaves and deliver the fragrance of Fall right to you and you'll feel it, know it: God is here. You are loved. Love always wins.
LORD,
I can't keep up this week. Yesterday I had a more gentle approach, a slower pace, and felt like I was able to catch my breath. Thank you.
Is it my age? Is my endurance waning? All the words, all the thoughts, all the fear that ends up in a day I call a 'good day' is more than I have strength for. Even good days are scurry days, hurry days, blurry days. I find myself wanting something slow something solid, something still and simple. Maybe a mug of tea? A chair outside in my back yard with a view of autumn leaves? A hand to hold that isn't in a hurry or itching for it's phone? A comfy pair of jeans?
Meet me here LORD. Please come. Sit with me. I need you. I know you are here, you are everywhere. Give me eyes to see. Can I sit down on faith, like I'm sitting in a sturdy adirondak chair? Does that even make sense? If that's possible and OK with you, I would like that for today.
Firm faith.
I understand faith is intangible, something I can't grab, touch or even properly explain. It is a beautiful mystery and mystery is amazing but with all the words, questions, scurry, duty and noise this week has already held I could really use a faith chair to plop in. A faith mug of tea, solid and warm. A faith hand to hold. A faith pair of jeans, no tugging or riding.
Simple. Solid. Faith.
Maybe just for today?
Lead on LORD.
Thanks for listening.
Amen.
