Rest?

Rest.
Yesterday I asked the Lord to teach me more about rest. I wonder if my timing for a reflection on rest is the best.
We leave for Canada today - going home. First, I'm heading to work for a short time then picking up the rental van, trip food, clothes to pack, hair stuff (good grief!), passports, details and probably some questions followed by more details.
Rest? Seems unlikely.
"Not to us Lord, not to us
but to your name be the glory
because of your love and faithfulness." (Psalm 115:1)
Love. Faithfulness.
If only I could fully ingest those two words. Chew them up. Grind them down and swallow. Digest them and make them a part of me to the point where they flow through my veins, I believe I could rest.
I have access to a love which will not disappoint. Death has no part of it. Sin does not taint it, does not change it into something harmful to me in any way. So, if I miss a trip detail, I'm still loved. If I say or do something stupid and my children see or hear, I'm still loved. If our money runs out, if a precious one dies or if any of all my endless worst-case scenarios materialize, I'm still loved.
Psalm 115 has more to offer than I have time for today but love and faithfulness is an excellent beginning.
Teach me Lord.
Rest. I want to know more so I can live in a way to better glorify you.
Love. Faithfulness. Rest.
Amen.
